Data4 and EDF Seal an Agreement for Low-Carbon Energy

Data4 has become the first data center operator in France to sign a Nuclear Production Allocation Contract (CAPN) with EDF. This unprecedented twelve-year agreement secures a share of EDF’s existing nuclear production to supply Data4’s French infrastructures with low-carbon and cost-competitive electricity.

A Landmark Contract for the Industry

Starting in 2026, Data4 will benefit from 40 MW of nuclear power, representing around 230 GWh per year. This volume complements its existing solar and wind power contracts, building a robust energy mix to meet the surging demand driven by cloud services and artificial intelligence.

“We are extremely proud to sign this first low-carbon CAPN with EDF, a long-standing partner and a key player in France’s energy transition,” said François Sterin, Chief Operating Officer of Data4. “This contract is a cornerstone of our competitiveness strategy and ensures our customers have reliable, sustainable access to low-carbon energy.”

Stability and Sovereignty

In today’s volatile energy market, this contract provides Data4 with long-term predictability and security, while contributing to the reduction of its carbon footprint under the Data4Good program.

Marc Benayoun, EDF Group Executive Director, commented: “This partnership will enable Data4 to benefit from low-carbon, competitive, and readily available electricity—an essential advantage for digital players. It fully aligns with EDF’s commitment to the development of data centers in France and to the country’s energy sovereignty.”
