ESG Report 2025: Data4 remains firmly committed to sustainable development

As digital usage continues to intensify, the question of sustainability is becoming increasingly pressing. Data centers, though largely invisible, are essential infrastructures that now account for a significant share of the energy, climate, and regional challenges facing society.

With the publication of its 2025 ESG Report, Data4 is not announcing a strategic shift, but rather reaffirming a long-standing commitment: sustainability has been embedded at the core of its development model from the very beginning. The group structures this approach around four pillars – environment, territories, people, and governance – forming a strategy that is now fully integrated across all its activities.

Environment: driving performance through measurement and innovation

As digital demand continues to grow, particularly with the rise of artificial intelligence, Data4 is strengthening its ability to measure and manage its environmental impact. The continuous improvement of efficiency indicators remains a key foundation of this approach.

Progress in PUE and WUE metrics reflects significant advances in energy optimization and water management, in line with a broader commitment to resource efficiency. The group’s energy strategy follows the same principle of control and resilience. Data4 secures a low-carbon electricity supply through a mix of renewable energy and nuclear power, supported by long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Beyond operations, Data4 is extending its analysis to the entire lifecycle of its new infrastructures. By incorporating construction processes and materials into its carbon assessments, the group is helping to raise industry standards.

This approach is further reinforced by a strong innovation agenda. Liquid cooling systems designed from the outset, heat recovery initiatives, such as the development of a bio-circular data center prototype, are all contributing to turning energy challenges into drivers of efficiency and value creation.

Territories: campuses at the heart of local ecosystems

Data4 promotes a territorial approach to infrastructure development. Its campuses are designed as open ecosystems, closely connected to local stakeholders and economic dynamics. In 2025, the group continues its expansion across Europe through new campus projects while further strengthening its presence in existing regions.

This strategy also includes a strong commitment to openness and education. Student visits, partnerships with educational institutions, engagement with local authorities, and community events all help foster a better understanding of the role of data centers and support the development of a rapidly evolving industry.

The objective is twofold: to contribute to local economic growth while helping to build European digital sovereignty.

People: supporting growth through collective commitment

Data4’s growth trajectory is driven by sustained expansion. In 2025, the workforce continues to grow significantly, reflecting both the rapid evolution of the sector and increasing demand for specialized skills. To support this growth, the group is strengthening its onboarding, training, and internal mobility programs, with a particular focus on employee engagement. Satisfaction indicators highlight a structured working environment committed to continuous improvement.

Diversity and inclusion also remain important areas for progress in a sector where achieving balanced representation is still an ongoing challenge. Through these initiatives, Data4 reaffirms a fundamental belief: sustainable performance depends first and foremost on the people who bring the company’s vision to life every day.

Governance: building credibility through Strong structures

In a context of increasingly stringent regulatory requirements, governance has become a key driver of Data4’s ESG strategy. The group is enhancing its mechanisms to ensure transparency in its actions and the reliability of its data, in line with European standards.

The systematic integration of ESG criteria into procurement processes, the broader adoption of contractual clauses related to compliance and health and safety, and the implementation of robust ethical policies all reflect a commitment to aligning the entire value chain. This approach aims to strengthen stakeholder trust and firmly anchor the group within a framework of responsible and sustainable development.

A Sustainable Path Forward in an Era of Digital Acceleration

The 2025 ESG Report highlights a fundamental challenge: the rapid growth of the digital economy and the need to manage its impacts responsibly. By relying on measurement, innovation, and strong regional roots, Data4 reaffirms its commitment to reconciling infrastructure development with environmental and social responsibility.
