Data Center Facility Engineer Italy

The Facility Operations Engineer is a key role in the technical management of critical systems within a Data Center. The primary responsibility is to ensure the proper operation, operational continuity, and technical efficiency of electrical, mechanical, and safety systems through advanced monitoring, structured technical analysis, and technical coordination of suppliers.

This role does not involve design activities; instead, it is responsible for the engineering supervision of operations, analysis of infrastructure performance, technical assessment of anomalies, fault diagnosis, and management of maintenance activities in highly critical environments.

MAIN TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Supervision and Technical Control

  • Continuous technical monitoring of critical systems: electrical (MV/LV, UPS, generator sets), mechanical (HVAC), fire protection, and security systems.
  • Performance analysis through BMS/SCADA systems and early detection of anomalies or inefficiencies.
  • Technical validation of routine, extraordinary, and corrective maintenance activities.

Technical Incident Management

  • Technical coordination during infrastructure incidents and fault analysis.
  • Preparation and validation of Root Cause Analyses (RCA), identifying underlying technical causes.
  • Development and monitoring of corrective action plans for risk mitigation.

Energy Monitoring and Data Analysis

  • Technical analysis of energy consumption and efficiency parameters (PUE, power demand, load profiles).
  • Production of monthly technical reports and collaboration with Energy Management teams.
  • Technical support during energy and environmental audits.

Technical Coordination of Suppliers

  • Engineering supervision of activities carried out by external suppliers (FM providers, maintenance contractors, specialized technicians).
  • · Validation of operational procedures, technical dry runs, checklists, and MOPs/SOPs.
  • · Verification of compliance with technical, regulatory, and HSE standards.

Support to Internal Functions

  • Collaboration with Critical Environment Managers, Service Delivery, and Compliance teams.
  • Participation in technical committees, infrastructure reviews, failure simulations, and management of minor projects.
  • Technical support during customer audits, certification processes, and inspection visits.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Degree in Electrical, Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in complex industrial or high-availability environments (preferably Data Centers, Hospitals, or Critical Infrastructure).

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems (MV/LV), UPS, generators, HVAC, fire detection, and security systems.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams, system logic diagrams, and functional schematics.
  • Experience in technical fault analysis and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with regulations and standards (CEI 0-16, CEI 64-8, ISO 50001, ISO 27001, ISO 14001).
  • Knowledge of BMS/SCADA systems, technical data analysis, and diagnostic tools.
  • Technical English, written and spoken.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Strong analytical mindset and a structured approach to problem solving.
  • Decision-making ability in complex and high-pressure situations.
  • Team-oriented attitude and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and technical ownership.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Precision, methodical approach, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Availability for on-call duty and on-site presence when required.
