Investment Associate
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Investment Associate is an integral part of Data4’s Investment team. This team sets the growth and funding strategy of the group. To achieve its growth, the company engages in M&A as well as greenfield acquisitions to build out new data center assets/campuses and executing on follow-up investments at existing locations. As such, the position sits at the heart of the company and the role offers the opportunity to work directly with a variety of senior members of the management team. The role assists with strategic decision making in the company structurally (business planning) and ad-hoc as required.
The successful candidate will be a self- starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, is detailed oriented, possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity, is business savvy, and has a strong finance/valuations foundation.
The Investment Associate will work in a tight knit team with direct link to the Chief Investment Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Underwriting investment opportunities
- Preparing marketing materials for both internal and external use
- Assisting in/driving DD workstreams
- Performing complex financial analysis and valuations
- Modelling the impacts of returns either to the business or within the portfolio
- Assisting investment and finance management teams with other corporate development transactions as required, including financings, acquisitions, business plan forecasting, and strategic planning
- Helping with the preparation of board materials
- Maintaining of the business plan model
REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, finance, or a related field
- 2-5 years relevant experience in investment M&A and/or banking industry with exposure to the data centre, real estate and/or infrastructure industries
Technical skills
- Excellent analytical, financial modelling and valuation skills, ideally with a real estate and/or corporate focus
- Project planning and self-management skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast paced and team-oriented environment
- Meticulous attention to detail is essential
- Fluency in English and French. Another European language is an asset
- Proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
